The University records its' equipment on an asset tracking system.  This includes where items are on loan and are not in the recorded location during asset inspections.   The most common is loan is where staff members take a laptops home with them or have equipment at home for remote working.  The maximum period for a loan is two years, but it can be renewed. 

We have reviewed and streamlined the loan process.  A new online form (FA01.6) replaces the existing paper/pdf version. (FA01.5) with immediate effect.  The requirement to obtain an# signature from the Equipment Issuer has been removed and they will be notified by email of your loan.  The approval (formerly Head of Dept) has been centralised in the MTU Asset Office, to speed up the process.
