Application of €1,000 Fee Reduction

Dear Colleagues,
As part of Budget 2023, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science introduced a reduction in the Student Contribution for Undergraduate Free Fees Students of €1000.
All full-time undergraduate students who are Free Fees eligible and registered for the 2022/23 academic year are eligible for the reduction.
SOLAS Apprentices are also eligible for a reduction of 33% in their fees for 2022/23.
We are in contact with the students but I am aware they have been asking Academic and Support staff for information in relation to their fees.
The following is a brief update:
The Fees office are currently working on updating students accounts and processing refunds as a result of the announcement.
- The fees office have updated all Apprentice fees and students who overpaid online were refunded last week.
- Full-time undergraduate students who are eligible for the reduced fee had their accounts updated this evening.
- Students who overpaid by Bank Transfer have been emailed a refund form.
- Students who paid online will be refunded within the next 7 – 10 days. There is a significant volume of refunds to process.
Please note the €1,000 reduction does not apply to the following students:
- Part-time Students
- Postgraduate Masters and PhD Students
- Undergraduate Repeat Students
- Undergraduate ACCS Students.
- Undergraduate students who are liable for Tuition fees as a result of Previous attendance at 3rd Level.
- Springboard / HCI / ICTS Students
- Students in Year 5 of an Integrated Masters Programme.

** UPDATE 7th October 2022 **
Dear Colleagues,
Just a quick update on the refund timeline in my last email.
- All students who overpaid the Student Contribution fee by €1,000 online were refunded today.
- Students who paid by Bank Transfer and submitted a refund form were also reimbursed.
I wish to acknowledge the tremendous work carried out by the team in the fees office who managed to process almost 800 individual refunds today.
